Dr. Yoon Jin-Kuk´s Promotion Certificates and the Diploma Certificate

Abstract
|
|
|
This article aims at presenting 3 kinds of the Promotion Certificates and the Diploma Certificate of Severance Union Medical College. These Certificate; of Dr. Yoon Jin-Kuk were donated by his descendant to the Dong-Eun Medical Museum at Yonsei University College of Medicine a few years ago.
Dr. Yoon was born in 1891. When he finished the Christian education in Gae-Sung, he entered Severance Hospital Medical College in 1909 and graduated there in 1914. After graduation he passed the bar exam for the Medical Doctor in Sep. of 1914 while he was working for the Severance Hospital as an intern. Later he vas very successful in running his own clinic in In-Chon.
According to the Certificate´s, he studied Anatomy, Chemistry, Method of using microscope, Physics, Biology, Physiology, Histology, Bacteriology, Materia Medica, Diagnosis, Method of a treatment, Pathology, Respiratory Diseases, Urology, Neurology, infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Medicine, Dermatology, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Psychiatry, and Medical Jurisprudence. And the Certificates show us the fact that Dr. Yoon studied medicine under the direction of the Western missionary Doctors and fast graduates of Severance Hospital Medical College such as Dr. Kim Pil-Sun.. The textbooks used had been translated into Korean during 1910s.
